Personal Life Skills and Business Skills Training for the Unemployed Program
The Personal Life Skills and Business Skills Training for the Unemployed Program will consist of the following services:
- Personal Life Skills
The Personal Life Skills program will focus on assisting the unemployed with coping with the everyday challenges of life such as: dealing with family and friends, establishing and maintaining successful relationships (marriages, parent-child, siblings, and neighbors, etc.) balancing household budgets, setting personal financial goals and meeting them, beating bouts of depression, fighting any form of addictions (drugs, sex, gambling, and food, etc.), overcoming laziness and procrastination, avoiding criminal activities and actions, balancing the different demands, rights, and obligations of life, and personal time management, etc.
This program will use the participants' actual information and life experiences in developing and assisting them to better handle their personal affairs.
- Business Skills Training
The Business Skills Training program will build the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills in the unemployed participants to help them identify, apply for, land, keep, and advance in gainful employment.
The program will focus on developing skills and fostering a successful attitude toward consistently acquiring new marketable skills. The program will provide the following services:
- Job Searching: The participant will learn traditional and online job searching skills. We will show the participant advance ways in matching their present skills sets with the requirements for potential jobs.
- Job Applying Training: The participant will learn how to apply for jobs using different types of mediums. This area will show the applicant how to properly complete a job application. The applicant will learn how to write and maintain an impressive resume. We will stress the importance of keeping and maintaining good references to use in applying for a job. The participant will learn the true purpose of a job interview and how to use the interview to the participants' advantage.
- Job Retention and Promotions: The participant will learning how to keep the job once he/she has landed it. Basic things will be taught and stressed such as not using the telephone for personal topics during work time, volunteering to do projects that others do not want to do but are needed by the employer, avoiding work place gossip, and not allowing in negative personal habits to surface in the work place, etc. Also, advance job retention skills will be taught such as cross-training for other critical functions within the company to make oneself more valuable. In addition, the participant will learn how to create win-win colleague relationships to better advance in the workplace.
- Employability and Sustainability: The participant will learn the importance of not become stagnated in terms of his/her employment skills. We will foster a sense and desire in the participant to always invest in their human capital by taking worthwhile skill building class, attending instructional meetings, seminars, reading productivity books and staying in tune with the job climate, etc.
